Quick and Easy Creative Toddler Play Date

Elise has a lovely little friend called Raphi (Raphaela). She popped down this morning for a play and after reading the gorgeous book, "Commotion in the Ocean" with Elise after breakfast we thought a nice idea might be to do a sea picture.

So here's what the girls ended up with:

Ha ha!

I'm always wondering what we can do with pipe cleaners and here's a great idea: tentacles!

All you'll need for this quick and easy project:

You'll need:

- A3 coloured paper - we went for green
- Some pipecleaners
- Googly eyes
- Other fun things to decorate (shiny things, glitter)
- Cut out pictures of animals

To make the octopus:

1. Punch 4 holes into the bottom of  a circular piece of card. Insert a pipe cleaner into each hole and twist at the base. Then make the legs look wiggly!

2. Glue on his eyes and decorate him if you want.

3. Punch an eyelet through the octopus to make a nose and also to attach the octopus to your big A3 piece of paper. Fold the eyelet over at the back of the A3 piece to secure it and place some tape over that. Your octopus can now move freely and jiggle about in the sea!

4. Now you can decorate the sea picture. I just put three different coloured pieces of paper together (pink, blue, green) and drew fish shapes, a dolphin, a turtle etc and then cut them out. This means you make 3 animal shapes in the time it would take to cut out one! I'm all for saving time!

5. Glue all your animal shapes and shiny bits to your picture and voila! An under-the-sea adventure can begin!

Love and hugs,
Rebecca and Elise x
